FEMMEBAGS (2020)

Femmebags is a soft sculpture work created with the intent of discussing the aesthetics of comfort and functionality, questioning why certain bodies are ‘useful’, and others disgusting. The anthropomorphic furniture pieces exist to be intimately interacted with, prompting participants to think about the different reactions and aesthetic responses the two forms elicit. The beanbags offer a moment of gentle intimacy, purely existing for the needs of others; they are not autonomous, so it is up to the participants to decide what the Femmebag’s function really is, respectfully or not. They exist as functional human substitutes that allow for reflection of our understanding and treatment of living femme bodies.
